Use your iPod to make calls

As the iPod kept expanding over the years, we saw it transform into the all in one iPhone. And with the number of applications being developed, and the Wifi feature added to the iPod Touch. We can now use the unit as a phone. Well, kind of ...
We now have the ability to send and receive audio messages using the iPod touch by such applications as Panama or Skype. There will be a number of others, but for the time being I will talk about Panama.
Panama first became available in January of 2010. It's a FREE download from the App store and can be used with version 3.0 and later. All you need is an iPod touch (works with iPhones as well of course), a headset with a Mic (that has a 3.5mm jack) and a Wifi connection. That's basically it.
Currently the following feature are available and more are being added. An In Box with current contacts or Voice and text messages you have sent and received. A Public button containing current "Shout Out's" under the Latest tab. Favorites tab contains the people you are following. Featured tab has the current features Pod casts and industry stories.
The application provides you with either texting or voice messaging. The nice thing about both is that you can be concise and to the point of what you would like to say without being interrupted. And it also allows your recipient to reply back. You may post public "shout Outs" with others posting audio or text comments and replies. Or select anyone, two or three or more on your contact list to send a personal audio message to.
So what are you waiting for. Check out their web site, download the app (Hey it's free!!) and you don't have to sign up for a cell phone service, what an alternative! Panama
